im going to be building a freshwater exotic aquarium...im planning on setting it up tonight, and getting the fish tomorrow...what chemicals and things do i need to prepare it with? hello:) im getting a 26 gallon freshwater tank, i want it to be a swamp, ancient ruins, or beach theme, i also like exotic fish, like the kind you wont find at your friends house :P my town has an aquarium where i can buy all sorts of exotic fish, and stingrays, parranahs, and eels are legal here, so anyone have any suggestions for a thriving unusal commnity that will not eat eachother, not cost me a fortune, and be easeir to take care of(im an advanced fish keeper) (plus tell me what theme u like best, and if you can, send me pics of a different nice theme you like)

I have a 30 gallon tank and I am going to set up a FOWLR aquarium in it. I love the colours and variation of a marine tank. I have done my reading about live rocks and SW tanks. Now I want some information from experienced people for good tank mates. I would like ones, first and foremost, that help maintain the tank. In my freshwater tanks, I never see any algae, ever, because of the certain I keep. I don't mind algae in my marine tank becaise I love the colour and I need the biological filter but I want something that can help keep it down to where it needs to be. I do want a few shoals of fish, if my tank size permits. I know the rule of thumb for a FW tank is "1 gallon for every inch of full-grown fish," but does that rule apply to marine tanks with live rock? Does the live rock take up that space, too? I love variation. I am a full-time student and a Science major. I just finished a year of Biology and I would want to use my education in Ecology and Limnology. In saying that, I want an ecosystem. I enjoy seeing symbiosis. Clownfish and their host anemones are awesome to me. I want my entire tank to be filled with creatures that dwell with each other and others of different species. Can anyone give me a good list of what they use or have used? I want anything from sponges to Moorish Idols (I don't mean to list from that one Disney movie, just good fish). The more, the better. Any advice and anything to watch out for would be graciously accepted. Also, I love anything exotic; the more exotic, the better. Thank you, in advance.

Hey all, I'm asking for the help of any experts in any category of freshwater or saltwater. I've recently merged two of my hobbiest together first off my knowledge of building website with my extreme hobby of fish keeping. I'm a pretty big avid fish keeper mostly doing planted aquariums, with expertise in cycling, co2 systems, EI dosing. Of course i don't know everything and i'm asking anyone able to help me write articles, participate in the forum answering questions for people needing information on aquariums. I have a spotlight fish of the week article where i spotlight a fish of the week with personal experience with the fish where we do freshwater and saltwater so i'm asking anyone who wants to write articles on there fav fish or interesting fish salt or fresh please do so. I mean besides fish. I know about snails and crayfish and pond clams but is there anything else? it would be ok if it needed a little salt as long as it didnt need a lot of care or any fancy equipment. i have an aquarium, thermometer, heater, light, filter, hood, and aerator. Even sails or crayfish or clams would be ok if they were really awesome and exotic looking.its for my mom-fish tanks calm her. oh and no frogs-her boyfriend already has some and she dosent like them. like i said though-nothing hard to care for
